In 2018 we participated in the MUN hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Barbados for the first time. Every year more than 400,000 students from schools around the globe beyond take part in Model United Nations (MUN). The Model UN is an authentic simulation of the UN General Assembly, UN Security Council, or other multilateral body, which introduces students to the world of diplomacy, negotiation, and decision making.
Four of our students spent 6 weeks – every Saturday from 9 – 1 pm – researching, writing and presenting. 23 schools from around Barbados were represented and each “delegate” was assigned a nation that they would represent when the General Assembly met on March 10th at the Lloyd Erskine Centre.
TCS was ably represented by Alexa Legault-Boyjoo as the delegate from the Portuguese Republic, Aurora Rain Rose as the representative of Barbados, Bibi Brown as the delegate from the Federative Republic of Brazil and Kelsey Impano as the representative of the Republic of Turkey.
Alexa was the recipient of an honourable mention and Bibi was one of the overall winners and was sent on to Trinidad to co-represent Barbados at the regional conference.
