Every year more than 400,000 students from schools around the globe beyond take part in Model United Nations (MUN). The Model UN is an authentic simulation of the UN General Assembly, UN Security Council, or other multilateral body, which introduces students to the world of diplomacy, negotiation, and decision making. The challenge gives all fourth and fifth formers in EVERY school in Barbados the opportunity to run his/her own business. As many of you will know, this year ALL MYP 4 students took part in the challenge this year and each ran his/her own business which meant many students put in many extra hours outside of school, on his/her own, with a partner or in a three; we had seven businesses running in total! Fifteen year old Amber Mckenzie of Codrington school is on a mission to get the defunct Society Primary School back on the track; and she has begun with the donation of over $2,000 --- which she made from the sale of organic mosquito lotion. The fifth former was given $20 and a six week deadline to start a business or manufacture a product, as part of her business management school project under the Barbados Entrepreneurship Foundation.
